Ladder Toss Rules

SET UP The Ladder Toss game consists of two ladders and 6 bolas (3 light blue , 3 dark blue).

Assemble and place the two ladder frames 15–20 feet apart (adjust distance for skill/age). Place ladders facing each other.

GAME PLAY

Players take turns tossing bolas (two connected balls) at the opponent’s ladder. Each player tosses all three bolas per round. Use one hand per toss; step behind the throwing line.

SCORING

  • Top rung = 3 points
    • Middle rung = 2 points
    • Bottom rung = 1 point
    • Bola hitting the ground and wrapping around no rung = 0 points
    Count points after each round. If a bola wraps more than one rung, score the highest-value rung it occupies.

Winning

WINNING

The first player or team to reach exactly 21 points wins the game. If a player or team scores more than 21 points in a round, their score for that round does not count, and they retain their score from the previous round.

How to Play Ladder Toss with Variations?

  • Knockdown round: knock opponent’s bola off rack for extra points.
  •  Non-dominant hand only.
  • Throw from farther distance or add obstacle zones.
